Watch for Security Credit Union in Your Community
 Security Credit Union is sponsoring the Family Fun Series at the PIX Theatre with shows the following dates: October 24, 2009, November 21, 2009, January 16, 2010, February 13, 2010, March 20, 2010 and April 17, 2010.
 Security Credit Union will have a team in the Relay for Life in Shiawassee County. The event is Friday, May 14, 2010 at 4:00pm through Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 4:00 pm, at the Shiawassee County Fairgrounds. Relay for Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people will gather at the fairgrounds and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times. The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. There will be entertainment, on site activities, a silent auction and much more!

In the summer of 2009, Security Credit Union sponsored a concert at the Clio Amphitheater, and is proud to announce its sponsorship of another summer concert in 2010. In particular, Security Credit Union will be sponsoring the Johnny Cash Tribute on July 13, 2010. Clio Amphitheater’s mission is to provide great family entertainment at an outstanding value. On February 19, 2010, Priority Children of Genesee County held its 15th Annual Children’s Champion Awards. Security Credit Union participated as a sponsor and was nominated for a Special Opportunities for Children and Youth award. Priority Children was launched to organize a community-wide effort to improve the quality of life for children in Genesee County. A diverse coalition of individuals and organizations participate in Priority Children, including volunteers from business, civic affairs, charitable organizations, education, the faith community, government, and health and human services.
 Security was proud to participate in Holiday Depot’s 15th year of holiday donations and assistance to families in need in the Lapeer Community. We held a special item drive at all of our Lapeer County offices and were asking for donations of personal items such as toothpaste, soap, diapers, etc. We appreciated those who stopped by and donated for those in need in our Lapeer Community.

Security Credit Union was a Premier sponsor of Ray C’s 5th Annual Lapeer County Buck Pole. Hunters from all around Mid-Michigan lined up to hang their trophy bucks on this Buck Pole. The Lapeer County Buck Pole was on November 15, 2009 and was hosted and held at Ray C’s Extreme Store on M-21 in Lapeer. Check out Ray C’s website at www.raycs.com for all the details. All proceeds of the event went to Wheelin Team 457, a non-profit organization that competes in and promotes activities for physically impaired men, women and children.
The Eastern Michigan Fair held their Appreciation Dinner on November 12, 2009, and Security Credit Union received a Certificate of Appreciation for our contribution to the 2009 Eastern Michigan Fair. Security’s support of this event has ensured that the tradition of over 111 years in our community will continue.
 Knowing how important your identity and credit situation is, Security Credit Union hosted a FREE Identity Theft Seminar in Lapeer on October 21st, 2009, and those who attended received a free copy of their credit report to be reviewed with one of Security’s trained staff to ensure they were not a victim of identity theft. They also learned how to safeguard their personal information and assets, along with ways to prevent identity thieves from stealing their private information in the future. All participants entered a drawing and a lucky winner walked away with a cross-cut shredder.
 Lapeer County Habitat for Humanity is a local charity that provides safe and affordable housing for the working poor of the county, and Security Credit Union is a proud sponsor of their charitable cause! Habitat for Humanity presented Security Credit Union with a framed letter of appreciation at their Annual Auction Dinner on Sept. 19, 2009. Security Credit Union is proud to be a sponsor of such a great organization with an important and meaningful cause!
 The Lapeer County Community Branch of Security Credit Union was excited to host its annual Hot Dog Day for the Lapeer community and Credit Union members in August. Festivities included hot dogs, pizza, giveaways, door prizes, and face painting. Thank you to all that attended the event; it was a great turn out and a lot of fun! |
